Crónica de una fuga" makes you have an idea of what many suspected left activists when through in Argentina during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship. However, even though this movie refers to what happened in Argentina in the '70 s, I believe that it can also serve the purpose of directing your attention to what is happening nowadays in countries without democratic regimes.

En Crónica de una fuga el relato es apoyado por testimonios reales, el protagonista es Claudio Tamburrini (Rodrigo de la Serna), un jugador de fútbol del club Almagro que ha sido capturado por los militares y llevado a un espacio de tortura en el año 1977. Al no pertenecer a ningún partido de izquierda, ni siquiera a una agrupación política de su facultad, Claudio fue uno de los tantos capturados casuales del proceso. Sin embargo, Caetano hace hincapié en las causas de su captura: uno de los presos políticos lo señaló falsamente como perteneciente a un partido revolucionario para cubrir a sus compañeros aún libres y para suavizar su tortura. Es precisamente aquí, en torno a la figura del protagonista, donde radica la originalidad del film: Claudio representa una víctima del poder político, no sólo de la derecha, sino también de la izquierda. Lo bueno de la intención del director es que no toma partido por ninguno de los dos bandos, ubicando al espectador en una mirada crítica frente al proceso, pero negando una toma de posición partidista. La idea es denunciar el proceder usual de la política, en cualquiera de sus manifestaciones ideológicas.

In her feature debut, Patricia Riggen offers a touching tale of the way the love between a mother and child can thrive and endure despite physical separation.

In La Misma Luna (The Same Moon), Riggen gives us the parallel stories of nine-year-old Carlitos and his mother, Rosario. In the hopes of providing a better life for her son, Rosario works illegally in the U.S. while her mother cares for Carlitos back in Mexico. Unexpected circumstances drive both Rosario and Carlitos to embark on their own journeys in a desperate attempt to reunite. Along the way, mother and son face challenges and obstacles but never lose hope that they will one day be together again. Riggen's film is not only a heartwarming family story; she also offers subtle commentary on the much-debated issue of illegal immigration.

Adeptly weaving the stories of mother and son, Riggen has created a poignant film that reminds us that the most important thing in life is the love of family. At every turn, La Misma Luna (The Same Moon) underscores the notion that geography is insignificant, for we are all under the same moon.

La misma luna, cuenta las historias paralelas de Carlitos, un niño de nueve años, y de Rosario, su madre. Buscando darle una mejor vida a su hijo, Rosario trabaja ilegalmente en los Estados Unidos mientras su madre cuida de Carlitos en México. Inesperadas circunstancias llevan tanto a Rosario como a Carlitos a iniciar sus propios viajes en un desesperado intento por reunirse. En el camino, madre e hijo se enfrentan a retos y obstáculos, pero nunca pierden la esperanza de que algún día estarán juntos de nuevo. La película de Riggen no es sólo una conmovedora historia familiar, sino también ofrece un sutil comentario sobre el muy debatido tema de la inmigración ilegal.

Octubre de 1988: un grupo de estudiantes de música de la Universidad de Chile viaja a Mendoza para asistir al recital de Amnistía Internacional en esa ciudad. Idealistas, se han prometido a sí mismos no transarlos por nada. En medio de ese grupo está Gastón Fernández, quien luego decide irse a Nueva York para intentar desarrollar la incipiente carrera de compositor para música de películas.
Pasan más de 15 años, Gastón vuelve a Chile y se reintegra a la sociedad con las manos vacías: debe sobrevivir arrendando departamentos y enfrentarse al hecho de que sus antiguos compañeros se han entregado gustosos al sistema y éste les ha retribuido el gesto con fama y fortuna.

October of 1988: a group of music students at the University of Chile travels to Mendoza to attend the International Amnesty concert at that city. Full of hopes, the have promised themselves not to compromise them by anything in the worl. In the middle of that group it is Gastón Fernandez, who soon decides to go away to New York to try to develop his carrer as a films music composer.

More than 15 years has passed, Gastón returns to Chile with empty hands: he must survive renting departments and faceing the fact that their old companions have given themselves tasteful to the system and this one has repaid them the gesture with fame and fortune.
